Sold as a yearling at the BBAG Yearling Sale in 2006 to Rennstall Gestuet Hachtsee, her performance under the care of Werner Baltromei peacked last year, when she won the Prix de l'Opera, Gr.1. At the Tattersalls December Sales LADY MARIAN was sold for €1.800.000 to Godolphin and is since then trained by Saeed bin Suroor.

The Godolphin website comments:
Lady Marian was narrowly beaten in a ding-dong finish to the Group One Darley Prix Jean Romanet over 10 furlongs on turf at Deauville on Sunday, August 23.

The four-year-old Nayef filly was held up as fifth of the six runners by Frankie Dettori and dropped back to be last before half-way.

She nipped up the inside turning into the straight and soon challenged for the lead.

Lady Marian led at the distance before being headed inside the final furlong. She rallied gamely and only went down by a short-head to Alpine Rose at the line.

Saeed bin Suroor, the Godolphin trainer, remarked: "Lady Marian has run a lot better today and only just missed out on success.

"The ground was probably a little bit too fast for her. We will try and find another Group One race and she may go for the Prix de l’Opera (Group One, 10 furlongs, Longchamp, October 4) but we will see how she comes out of this race."
