The first important yearling sale in the european calendar is the Arqana August Sale. STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK had prepped a filly by CHOISIR out of LIGHT AND AIRY for his breeders Haras de Saint Pair at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN. She was then offered by Haras des Capucines and sold for €120.000 to Fawzi Nass through Olver St Lawrence and will be trained in England.

The most important sale in Germany took place in the first week of September and STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK consigned with 5 horses the smallest lot since a few years. The number unfortunately was lowered again through the death of a lovely filly by ACCLAMATION out of WURFSCHEIBE, which was killed by lightning quite close to the sales.
Of the five offered four were sold to new owners. First in the ring was GRAND COEUR, a colt by NAAQOOS out of GALLIVANT. He was sold to the american Brookdale Farm to breeze in Ocala. Next was LIAISON DANGEREUSE, a filly by LAWMAN out of LA REINE NOIR. She was purchased by swiss owner Dr. Bottani. A filly by SOLDIER HOLLOW out of Gr.1 winner QUIZA QUIZA QUIZA did not reach the level her breeder wanted and was retained. The french bred colt by JUKEBOX JURY out of FAIT ACCOMPLI was sold to the czech agent Thomas Janda. The only horse to be sold to german clientele was a filly by MOTIVATOR out of LA BIKINA, which was sold to Darius Racing via HFTB Agency.

Overall the sale was quite patchy and a lot of prizes did not fulfill the expectations of their breeders. However one of the top lots was CLOUD ATLAS by SOLDIER HOLLOW out of C'EST L'AMOUR, bred by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg. Sold privately as a foal he was now resold to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for €180.000.
