LYCIDAS (Zamindar-La Felicita) won at Kelso on that day in 2016 and repeated this with a smooth success under Lucy Alexander. Running in the colours of John Gordon, the now 8yo gelding is trained by James Ewart. Bred by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg at their SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN LYCIDAS was meant to be sold as a yearling, but due to problems with his feet he failed to do so.

However the brother to Gr.1 winner LADY MARIAN and Gr.3 winner LUCIDOR was quirky, but quite talented on the flat. In training with young Toby Coles LYCIDAS won at 2 second time out and was seen as a horse with potential, so was sent straight into a Gr.3 for his debut at 3 years, in which he unfortunately got a hairline fracture to his tibia. Been given plenty of tim LYCIDAS then returned as a 6yo for an other young trainer in Charlie Fellowes, won twice in the spring, before running to freely at Royal Ascot and being fourth in the John Smith's Silver Cup, L.. Over the next winter he changed trainer again and has been with James Ewart since.
