02/09/19 2yo Belle Anglaise wins her Maiden at Brighton ...

... and brings up a lot of memories for her connections

BelleAnglaiseBrighton.jpgThe 2yo filly BELLE ANGLAISE (Cable Bay-Belle Allemande) won her Maiden in the colours of Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg at Brighton against the sister to Gr.1 winner NEWSPAPEROFRECORD under Richard Kingscote. She is trained by Stuart Williams, who has managed to win with all horses Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg have put in training with him.

BELLE ANGLAISE has an interesting story for her owners, as she is out of BELLE ALLEMANDE by ROYAL ACADEMY, which was bred by the couple in Canada in 1999. She is a sister to to the German 1000 Guineas, Gr.2 and German Oaks, Gr.2 winner QUE BELLE by SEATTLE DANCER. QUE BELLE was purchased as a yearling by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK back in 1995 and became one of the best fillies of her generation. She was then sold to B Wayne Hughes and helped to set up the farm SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN. However before QUE BELLE was sold Philipp had to promise his wife to get her a sister. So he leased her dam QUI BID from her owner Chris Thomas of Hedgestone Mangement and send her to Kentucky to be covered by ROYAL ACADEMY. He is by the way the sire of CENTAINE, who won the German Oaks, Gr.2 in the same colours as QUE BELLE. However the resulting filly foal was one of the first arrivals at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN. She was offered for sale due to the rising costs of setting up the farm and bought by Andreas Putsch, acting at this time under 6C Racing Ltd and named her BELLE ALLEMANDE. So now closes the circle as STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK purchased the then unnamed BELLE ANGLAISE as a foal at the Tattersalls December Sales privately, after she had failed to sell in the ring.
