02/07/23 Fantastic Moon won the German Derby, Gr.1

What an amazing result for all involved - we are still over the moon and it will take some time before this has sunken in. Our homebred FANTASTIC MOON (Sea the Moon-FRANGIPANI) has won the German Derby, Gr.1!!!

For his breeders GRAF UND GRÄFIN STAUFFENBERG, owner Liberty Racing, trainer Sarah Steinberg and jockey Rene Piechulek it was a first time experience to win the most important race for 3yos, whereas STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK has consigned and sold its second German Derbywinner 10 years after LUCKY SPEED. The soil at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN has a long history of producing German Derbywinners.

FANTASTIC MOON, bred by GRAF UND GRÄFIN STAUFFENBERG, born and raised at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN and consigned by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at the BBAG Yearling Sales to his current connections has now won 4 races from 5 starts and amassed €516.600 - not bad for a yearling, that was sold for €49.000 ;-)

FANTASTIC MOON  is the second foal of FRANGIPANI, who has a 2yo filly by STARSPANGLEDBANNER named FANG MICH in training with H Grewe for E Sauren, a yearling filly by MASAR, named FIRE AND ICE and is in foal to SEA THE STARS
